Somber Violets conjure a mystical, chorus-drenched sound laden with inspiration from the realms of the occult, folk horror, and 80s nostalgia.
Channeling the likes of Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division and Type-O Negative, Somber Violets hold dominion over their own fusion of deathrock, post-punk, and darkwave.
In the spring of 2023 bassist Josh Krebsbach sent guitarist Patrick Sullivan a simple text message, “Hey, do you want to be in a goth band with me?” Joined shortly thereafter by longtime friend and now drummer, Brandon Davis, Somber Violets began sowing their sonic garden for what would grow to become a 'Deadly Bloom'.

In 2024 Jess Hagen came on board to add her sophisticated blend of emotive and tender yet raw and gritty vocal stylings, and Somber Violets began opening for acts like Corbeau Hangs and playing alongside scene favorites, Licorice Chamber and Tyler NoxWind.

While building 'Deadly Bloom' they invited GRAVES, a friend and scene regular, in to the studio to add their unique and poignant synthesizer talents to complete the sound. Excited by the outcome, GRAVES was asked to join the live line-up, thus completing the pentangle.
